ORKNEY RFC continued their great early season form with a resounding
141-0 win over Crieff & Strathearn in front of a delighted support
of around 200 at Pickaquoy on Saturday afternoon.
The emphatic victory will keep the Orkney Brewery-sponsored side on top of Scottish Hydro Caledonia 1.
A lighting fast double from Chris Guthrie set the ball rolling for
Orkney and James Linklater's conversions made it 14-0 within the first
five minutes.
James himself scored the next try, followed soon after by Raymond
Moodie to secure Orkney a bonus point with only ten minutes gone. A
determined but disciplined display continued from Orkney, and it was
47-0 by half time.
A further procession of tries in the second half added almost 100 more
points in 40 minutes. Among them was a hat-trick for ORFC development
officer Bruce Ruthven in his first match for his new club.
Try scorers: Chris Guthrie (4), James Linklater (2), Raymond Moodie
(2), Bruce Ruthven (3), Don Tualasea (3), Sean Cursiter (1), William
Thomson (1), Jon Tait (3), Andrew Cuddihy (1), and Bryan Linklater (1).
