SPACE for Colour, a new exhibition opens at the Pier Arts Centre on Saturday, February 27 bringing together a series of displays focusing on colour.
The centre's permanent collection forms the basis of the exhibition,
highlighting the significance of light and colour to many of the
artists included in the collection.
This exhibition will showcase some of the recent additions to the
collection of works by artists such as Mark Francis, Lesley Foxcroft
and, most recently, a suite of 12 colour etchings by the British
sculptor Anish Kapoor.
A central feature of the exhibition will be a large-scale light
installation by Adam Barker-Mill, on loan to the Pier Arts Centre from
Peacock Visual Arts in Aberdeen who originated the work in 2009.
Colour Play is a continuously evolving cycle of colour that transforms
the gallery into a space where the levels of brightness and saturation
of colour change, altering the viewers perception of what is being seen.
