ORKNEY RFC continued their great early season form with a resounding
141-0 win over Crieff & Strathearn in front of a delighted support
of around 200 at Pickaquoy on Saturday afternoon.
The emphatic victory will keep the Orkney Brewery-sponsored side on top of Scottish Hydro Caledonia 1.
A lighting fast double from Chris Guthrie set the ball rolling for
Orkney and James Linklater's conversions made it 14-0 within the first
five minutes.
Mixed results from inter-county matches

ORKNEY'S ladies came from behind to win Saturday's inter-county hockey match.
Shetland took the lead in the match at Brae on Saturday afternoon, but
two goals from Hannah Johnston secured a sixth win in a row for Orkney
in the annual fixture for the Lady Hamilton Cup.
Ten tries as Orkney RFC beat Stirling students

ORKNEY RFC trounced Stirling University RFC 68-5 at Pickaquoy on
Saturday afternoon to avenge the 47-5 away defeat to the students from
earlier in the season.
Ten tries, nine of them converted, gave Orkney their biggest win of the
season, and they had secured the bonus point within half an hour.
Papdale Primary team wins national netball tournament

AN ORKNEY primary school netball team has won a national tournament played in Perth on Sunday.
Papdale Whirlwinds will travel home with the cup after winning all
seven of their games in the Perth & Kinross National Netball
Tournament at the Bell's Sports Centre.
Trials for Orkney youth football teams

THE final trial to select Orkney Youth Development Group's Under 11s
and Under 12s football teams will be held at Pickaquoy this Sunday,
March 15, between 12 noon and 2pm.
There will be an Under 16s trial on Friday, March 20 between 6-8pm followed by the last Under 14s trial on March 22.
Orkney RFC bow out of Bowl competition

A 59-0 defeat away to Scottish National League Division 1 side Preston
Lodge has seen Orkney RFC bow out of this season's Scottish
Hydro-Electric Bowl.
The Prestonpans side, who are three leagues above Orkney, had only
narrowly defeated Division 5 (East) side Broughton FPs 27-25 in Round 1
of the bowl, but they were too strong for the travelling Orkney side in
Saturday afternoon's second round clash.
Orkney RFC win incident-packed rugby match

AN eventful rugby match at Pickaquoy on Saturday afternoon saw Orkney
RFC come from behind to win 26-12 against Mackie Academy FP RFC, who
had two players taken to hospital by ambulance in the second half.
Orkney's man of the match John Dearness crossed the line five times
during the match, but had two tries chalked off. However, the home side
still secured the bonus point for scoring four tries, with a tremendous
try by Adam Towrie, which opened Orkney's account, complementing the
Dearness hat-trick.
Orkney RFC narrowly beaten in National Cup

ORKNEY RFC played some of their best rugby of the season, but lost out
12-7 to Highland in the third round of the Scottish Hydro Electric
National Cup in Inverness today, Saturday.
The travelling side put in what captain Erland Drever described as
their best team performance of the season so far against a side that is
two flights above them, lying ninth in National League Division 2.
Rugby club learn potential cup opponents

ORKNEY Rugby Club may not yet have played their second round tie in the
Scottish Hydro Electric National Cup, but they now know their potential
opponents in the third and fourth rounds.
After last weekend's postponement, Orkney are set to play Ross
Sutherland RFC in their rescheduled second round match on Saturday,
December 20. Wednesday's third round draw has pitted the winners of
that tie away to Highland, currently ninth in National Leagues Division
2.
Netball festival planned for October

Netball Orkney's Festival of Netball tournament will take place on Saturday, October 18.
At the moment nine teams from all over Scotland are confirmed as
attending, along with another two teams that are yet to confirm.
